Description
Nothing ruins a good day in the field faster than watching your temperature gauge creep into the red zone. If your fan is either roaring constantly or won’t engage when things heat up, your viscous fan clutch is probably the culprit. This smart cooling component automatically adjusts fan speed based on your engine’s actual temperature, saving fuel when you don’t need full cooling and preventing overheating when you do.
What You’re Getting
- Temperature-sensitive viscous coupling that engages the fan only when needed
- Saves 5-10 horsepower during normal operation compared to a locked fan
- Progressive engagement that prevents shock loads on belts and water pump
- Direct replacement for your 6-cylinder Ford engine cooling system
- Sealed unit maintains calibration throughout its service life
Built for Real Farm Work
This viscous fan clutch is designed for Ford New Holland tractors with 6-cylinder engines, including the high-horsepower 30 Series models like the 8530, 8630, 8730, and 8830, as well as the TW Series tractors. These are serious working machines that generate plenty of heat during heavy field work, transport runs, and PTO applications where precise cooling management makes a real difference.
Made to Last
Inside this clutch is a precisely calibrated system using temperature-sensitive silicone fluid that thickens as heat increases. When your engine runs cool, the fluid stays thin and the fan freewheels, saving fuel and reducing noise. As operating temperature rises, the fluid progressively thickens to smoothly engage the fan for exactly the cooling needed.
Installation Notes
Handle this unit carefully during installation and never store it upside down or on its side, as this can cause the silicone fluid to migrate. Check your fan blades for damage before installation—a bent fan will quickly destroy a new clutch. The unit should spin freely when cold but show increasing resistance as the engine warms up.
