Description
When your John Deere’s 6-cylinder turbo diesel starts burning oil, losing power, or making those sounds that make you wince, it’s time for a rebuild. But you don’t always need to tear the whole engine out of the tractor. This basic in-frame kit gives you the core components to freshen up your 466 CID powerplant without pulling it completely apart.
What You’re Getting
- Complete cylinder sleeve and seal set gets your bore dimensions back to spec
- New pistons with 3-ring design and keystone top compression ring for better sealing
- Fresh pins, retainers, and connecting rod bolts rated for turbo applications
- Valve-grind gasket set and oil pan gasket to prevent leaks when you’re done
- All the basics for an in-frame rebuild without the extras you might not need
Built for Real Farm Work
This kit works on the workhorses of the John Deere lineup from that era – the 4440 and 4640 row-crop tractors that spent their days pulling planters and cultivators, plus the big 8430 and 8450 four-wheel drives that handled the heavy tillage and deep ripping. These are the machines that put in long days during planting and harvest, and when they need attention, downtime costs money.
Made to Last
Tru-Power builds these components to handle the heat and pressure of turbocharged operation. The pistons are designed specifically for the 4.56-inch bore, and the keystone compression rings provide the kind of seal that keeps blow-by in check. Everything’s manufactured to meet or exceed original specifications.
Installation Notes
This is an in-frame kit, which means you can do the work with the engine still in the tractor – though you’ll still need engine hoist capability and some serious mechanical skills. The job typically takes a weekend if you’ve got the right tools and a clean workspace. Make sure to check your connecting rod markings before you start – they should read R57303 or R67320 for this kit to be the right match.
