Description
There’s nothing worse than running your Dexta blind, trying to judge engine speed by sound alone. Whether you’re powering a hay tedder that needs exact PTO speed or just want to avoid over-revving your trusty engine, this AC-type tachometer gets you back to operating with precision instead of guesswork.
What You’re Getting
- AC-type gauge that works with your alternator-equipped Dexta
- Clear, easy-to-read dial with proper RPM markings for accurate monitoring
- Dashboard mounting that fits right where your original gauge belonged
- Smooth electronic reading eliminates the jumping and sticking of worn mechanical gauges
- Built-in electrical filtering prevents erratic readings from alternator noise
Built for Real Farm Work
Your Dexta or Super Dexta might only be 35-40 horsepower, but it’s probably the handiest machine on your place. From mowing pastures to running smaller balers, these compact workhorses handle it all. Many implements need specific PTO speeds to work right – run that tedder too slow and it won’t fluff the hay properly, too fast and you’re breaking expensive tines.
Made to Last
This gauge reads your alternator’s AC pulse frequency to calculate engine speed – simple, reliable, and accurate. The electronic internals are designed to filter out electrical interference that causes jumpy readings, giving you steady RPM information whether you’re idling in the yard or working hard in thick hay.
Good to Know
Installation typically takes 30-45 minutes with basic tools. The trickiest part is usually removing the old gauge without cracking the aged dashboard plastic – work carefully and take your time. Make sure you have good connections at the alternator signal wire, as poor connections cause inaccurate readings. Your idle should read around 750-800 RPM, with maximum no-load speed about 2000-2200 RPM depending on your specific model.
